Look Back

When not able to write ahead, it helps to look back. In my case I had written a paragraph ahead of the story. What I needed to do was add a section of exposition (talking) presenting some facts. In going back, I realized that I could insert a section where a 'tour' of the surroundings could be done. This allowed for character interaction, story development, and other things that enabled me to present the facts in an entertaining manner.

One should not face a writer's block with the mentality of bursting through it. I have found in my own experience that a writer's block is usually due to my mind indicating that it has a problem in 'channeling' the story. One reason might be a re-imagining of certain story points. Another reason however is that there is a problem in where you are at in the story, so you need to look back and find out the problem with the 'journey' that prevents the tale from advancing.

PostSubject: Finally have a chance to get bored   June 4th 2010, 10:55 am

Everyone has been quiet here. Well, I am breaking the silence to let you know what has been keeping me occupied.

1) I started to work last year getting my family property into shape. Even being unemployed, I have managed to continue working. I am now working to get utilities and a trailer on the property. I have an address, and will be working on water, electricity, sewage, and a trailer in some order.

2) I managed to finally come to a decision to print my latest update to my role-playing rules. I am not so much publishing this, but simply having it printed for those that desire. I used Lulu (the link is in my signature). I went back to Kinkos, who printed my previous manuals, but they said that they could not do better than they had. Lulu is giving what I believe to be a much better product at a much cheaper price.

3) I am actually putting in some time in writing my computer game. Not moving fast at all, but actually taking steps. One day, maybe.

4) Job hunting. Unemployed, so looking.

Okay, that is what is eating up my time.

Fantasy puts more requirements on the writer than any other fiction, because the world must be made as real before anything else can be real.
Adult Christian fiction quite different than all the usual lame stuff in that market.  "Dilemma of Dreams" now in hard back.
