Look Back

When not able to write ahead, it helps to look back. In my case I had written a paragraph ahead of the story. What I needed to do was add a section of exposition (talking) presenting some facts. In going back, I realized that I could insert a section where a 'tour' of the surroundings could be done. This allowed for character interaction, story development, and other things that enabled me to present the facts in an entertaining manner.

One should not face a writer's block with the mentality of bursting through it. I have found in my own experience that a writer's block is usually due to my mind indicating that it has a problem in 'channeling' the story. One reason might be a re-imagining of certain story points. Another reason however is that there is a problem in where you are at in the story, so you need to look back and find out the problem with the 'journey' that prevents the tale from advancing.

PostSubject: Just wanting to know?   May 24th 2013, 2:56 pm

Hi Scribblers! (Better known as "just Terish" these days.)

Just wanting to know what you are up to. How is life? Anything you'd like to share?

We are doing well. Busy, busy. As far as writing I'm working on yet another novel. This one a little different since I'm writing from the bad guys POV as well as the good guy. Going back and forth, however in the end the good guy and the bad guy will switch roles and face off. Who will win? I don't know yet, but I'm eager to find out!

Life is good, doing what we have to do to continue getting healthy.

Parents health keeps fluctuating up and down. Dad will never be 100% but he tries to play the "I'm doing okay" card often. We know different. Mom is tired of keeping things together. She is currently back at the Nursing Therapy, leaving dad to fend for himself. Bouncing between her, him and our life is hectic to say the least. But as daughters that is our job. Julie's health is under control, though Simon and I have to keep an eye on her when there is a chance she might nick herself. Any little incident can turn tragic if we aren't careful. She's doing wonderful though. Life is not bad at all!

Hope everything is well with everyone who at the very least comes by to read sometimes. Wink

By the way, Oskar is still active. I know that he really does not share anything except his poetry, but he does stay active.

I spent the day switching my father over to hospice care. He is not progressing, so the programs with the health care service were no longer applicable for him. It is a big step, but I feel a necessary one.

Well, that is it. My son did well enough to be promoted into the honors program next year. Hurray! for him.

Oh, and I thank all who are reading my stories. I know you are not posting, but I want you to know that I do see the numbers. Thanks again. Just for note, I am editing all my past stories and planning to again start going to conventions when my father passes away - but I am also hoping that is a long time away. Maybe I can thus one day meet those who have been silently perusing my stuff.

Adult Christian fiction quite different than all the usual lame stuff in that market.  "Dilemma of Dreams" now in hard back.

You are very strong Terish. Yes I know Oscar is still penning and sharing away. I'm not sure he frequents the other areas of the board and that is why I left him out. My thoughts are with you and your father, hope it was/is a smooth transition.
