The streets were deserted. Where was everyone? Where had they all gone?

Look Back

When not able to write ahead, it helps to look back. In my case I had written a paragraph ahead of the story. What I needed to do was add a section of exposition (talking) presenting some facts. In going back, I realized that I could insert a section where a 'tour' of the surroundings could be done. This allowed for character interaction, story development, and other things that enabled me to present the facts in an entertaining manner.

One should not face a writer's block with the mentality of bursting through it. I have found in my own experience that a writer's block is usually due to my mind indicating that it has a problem in 'channeling' the story. One reason might be a re-imagining of certain story points. Another reason however is that there is a problem in where you are at in the story, so you need to look back and find out the problem with the 'journey' that prevents the tale from advancing.

PostSubject: Addiction   September 2nd 2008, 3:55 am

I'm like your medication
A drug of choice or not
But you've become addicted
No one has power over you
You just can't stop

I'm your addiction
Take me
I'm your addiction
Take me how I am
I come no other way.

You've wished for a lover
Prayed for a friend
Dream of a companion
Well here I am.
You've become addicted

I'm your addiction
Take me
I'm your addiction
I can help you
But you have to take me
Take me as I am

I've put you into submission
I'm in control
You listen completely
I've got your soul
Don't stop take me

I'm your addiction
Take me
I'm your addiction
You have no other choice
Take me as I am
Mine is the only voice

(Been a while since I've actually written a song instead of straight poetry, but here it is.)

Perhaps it would be helpful to format this as a song. Sure we can read it but labels are important for lyrics, where is the bridge?

But words are things, and a small drop of ink, falling like dew upon a thought, produces that which makes thousands, perhaps millions, think. (Lord Byron)

Very nice lyrics with great chosen words. I'd like to hear the melody to the song.
