The streets were deserted. Where was everyone? Where had they all gone?

Look Back

When not able to write ahead, it helps to look back. In my case I had written a paragraph ahead of the story. What I needed to do was add a section of exposition (talking) presenting some facts. In going back, I realized that I could insert a section where a 'tour' of the surroundings could be done. This allowed for character interaction, story development, and other things that enabled me to present the facts in an entertaining manner.

One should not face a writer's block with the mentality of bursting through it. I have found in my own experience that a writer's block is usually due to my mind indicating that it has a problem in 'channeling' the story. One reason might be a re-imagining of certain story points. Another reason however is that there is a problem in where you are at in the story, so you need to look back and find out the problem with the 'journey' that prevents the tale from advancing.

PostSubject: Shooting Stars   September 14th 2008, 2:48 pm

There's another thing that I missed
Something I never wished upon
Some stars
I always wished before I blew out the candles
There's some blackbirds
Flying up high above and
I can see you look up too
Damn those skies and you
Way over my head
Shooting stars there too
It's all made up of matter
But it doesn't matter
I can't understand why anything
up there would appeal to you

Every single shingle on that roof
They're coming loose one by one
They're cracking and I'm almost done
I'm afraid you'll fall every time
You never learn
It might not hold
You could fall any time

Shooting stars I've always seen
And I'm afraid of falling all over you
Aren't you feeling this phobia
It's got me quaking in my knees
I'm afraid of falling
But you're not afraid of rising
Above everyone else in this world

Every single shingle on that roof
They're coming loose one by one
They're cracking and I'm almost done
I'm afraid you'll fall every time
You never learn
It might not hold
You could fall any time

Every single shingle on that roof
They're coming loose one by one
They're cracking and I'm almost done
I'm afraid you'll fall every time

You never learn
It might not hold
It happens all the time

Please don't make your font so large in the future. It, and the triple spacing between every line, stretched out your post to a point that I had to scroll down every third line or so, which totally broke the flow of reading the piece.

That aside, I think I got what you were going for with this one, but honestly I don't feel very much emotion behind it.

I didn't intend to make the font so large. I actually pasted it in from my computer instead of typing it. I fixed it, though. Thanks for the feedback; I hope to improve my writing. Smile
