The streets were deserted. Where was everyone? Where had they all gone?

Look Back

When not able to write ahead, it helps to look back. In my case I had written a paragraph ahead of the story. What I needed to do was add a section of exposition (talking) presenting some facts. In going back, I realized that I could insert a section where a 'tour' of the surroundings could be done. This allowed for character interaction, story development, and other things that enabled me to present the facts in an entertaining manner.

One should not face a writer's block with the mentality of bursting through it. I have found in my own experience that a writer's block is usually due to my mind indicating that it has a problem in 'channeling' the story. One reason might be a re-imagining of certain story points. Another reason however is that there is a problem in where you are at in the story, so you need to look back and find out the problem with the 'journey' that prevents the tale from advancing.

PostSubject: Anxiety Attacks   October 1st 2008, 12:53 pm

Does anyone on this site have anxiety attacks?
Does anyone know how to lessen them, without the use of other things?
I've tried breathing in deeply and meditating or just trying to calm down or try to figure out what is bothering me, but they don't seem to work very well.

My suggestion, being a person that has them once a month give or take, would suggest trying to less stress before they happen. I know it's hard, but sometimes it's better to laugh something off then get worked up over it. There are simple things you can do to lessen stress.

Exercise is a good thing to do when upset. And just looking positively towards life is another thing.

That's the best I can do.

I agree with Bick - also, you might try sitting/lying down alone and don't be afraid to cry. Usually the things that don't help you do help me, so I don't really know what to tell you . . . just get it out. Scream, cry, write down what's wrong, or talk to yourself. Don't bottle it up.

I always talk to myself, that is nothing new. One of my weird quirks.

Anyway thanks for the advice Bick and Iulia.
I try my best to do what I can, but sometimes it just doesn't work out that way.

What helps me is drinking tea, very hot, small sips and breathing. It has come in very handy as of late.
