Monthly Writing Prompt
For this month's writing prompt write a scene using the following sentence to start;

The streets were deserted. Where was everyone? Where had they all gone?

Writing Tip
Our monthly writing tips are written by our very own TerishD. You can read more in Terish's Blog located in "The Abstractions" area of the forum.

Look Back

When not able to write ahead, it helps to look back. In my case I had written a paragraph ahead of the story. What I needed to do was add a section of exposition (talking) presenting some facts. In going back, I realized that I could insert a section where a 'tour' of the surroundings could be done. This allowed for character interaction, story development, and other things that enabled me to present the facts in an entertaining manner.

One should not face a writer's block with the mentality of bursting through it. I have found in my own experience that a writer's block is usually due to my mind indicating that it has a problem in 'channeling' the story. One reason might be a re-imagining of certain story points. Another reason however is that there is a problem in where you are at in the story, so you need to look back and find out the problem with the 'journey' that prevents the tale from advancing.

PostSubject: Hola!   March 26th 2009, 9:44 am

Hi, I'm new, I didn't see this introduction forum until I submitted a prologue and 1st chapter of a story Ive been working on for a while.

My names Dan, and am from England, and like reading and writing quite a bit but have nobody to show work to so I never really know how I'm doing and it takes motivation away sometimes, so it takes me a while to get into it every time I stop.

I have 2 forums of my own if anybody is interested in taking a look around, they're not writing based although there is sections for creative writings.

A forum tackling a range of subjects including Life, Spirituality, metaphysics, Nature, Animal Rights and Vegetarianism, religion, and a whole load more! We welcome everybody to come and check us out, thank you!

Unsane Culture

http://unsaneculture.forumotion.net

Hi Swami and welcome to Scribbles. Wow that is an introduction. However I wanted to ask you, why do you have two different forums, from just a simple scan they both cover the same things, so why have two of them, doubling the work?

It seems you have been very busy and I will take a look around your forums when time allows this evening. Again welcome to Scribbles, enjoy your time here.

Thanks Smile I hope I get some good reviews on the bit of my story i posted up.

I started Unsane Culture a while back on freeforums.org and they were rubbish, but I built up 74 members in a month or so I lost them when I started again. Unsane Culture was aimed at people who are opposed to mainstream society, although we welcomed everybody, and eventually it became a place to goof around a bit and also discuss a few serious topics. I created the free spirited forum because I like learning and thinking about the world and wanted to add more serious discussion topics and aim at people who would take it seriously and also share their views on the world. So its like a more dedicated alternative to my other one, which I hope will grow.

Very Happy

it was easy to create its just double the work trying to get the members now. LOL

PostSubject: Hello   March 26th 2009, 5:36 pm

Welcome. Glad to have another story-teller. There were no new stories this morning when I posted the first installment of my latest chapter, but if there are some now I will tear into them presently.

Look forward to discussing things with you.

Adult Christian fiction quite different than all the usual lame stuff in that market.  "Dilemma of Dreams" now in hard back.
